Staff Commuter Bike

Have you ever thought about commuting by bike, but just don't want to spend the money on a new bike in case it's not for you? In that case the Council have a bike available to all staff to borrow for up to a month to try out cycling to work.

The idea behind the scheme is to provide non cyclists and non bike owners with the opportunity to cycle to and from work. It can also be used to try leisure cycling in the evenings and at weekends. It is hoped that the bike will encourage staff to give cycling a go now and get more people cycling in the future.

The new bike is equipped with all the necessary safety and storage equipment, so all you need to provide is the pedal power and some enthusiasm.

Any staff interested in borrowing the bike should contact us using the details below.

The commuting bike is just the first in a number of travel plan measures being introduced in 2009, all of which have been funded by the South East of Scotland Transport Partnership (SEStran).
