Taxi Fares
Civic Government (Scotland) Act 1982
Members of the Public should note that the undernoted increases in taxi fares will apply during the times and for the periods specified:
Basic charges
- First 587 yards (4/12th of 1 mile) £1.90
- Each 147 yards (1/12th of a mile) thereafter 16p
- Journey over 6 miles - as agreed
Increased charges
- For hirings between 00.01 am on 24th December and 6.00 am on 27th December and between 00.01 am on 31st December and 6.00 am on 3rd January: +50%
Taxis (red licence plate)
In the event of any alleged incident of overcharging involving a taxi, members of the public are invited to pass full details to the Licensing Team for investigation - see contact details below.
A taxi can either be pre-booked, hailed in the street or at a rank. The vehicle will have an illuminated sign on the roof.
Private Hire Vehicles (yellow plate)
Please note that these fares do not apply to private hire vehicles which are subject to agreement prior to the commencement of the journey.
A private hire vehicle can only be pre-booked and cannot be hailed from the street. These vehicles have a yellow plate on the rear and front of the vehicle.
