Who makes planning decisions?

In the case of most householder type applications, and less complex major applications, the Council has delegated these decisions to the Development Quality Manager in consultation with the Head of Development Services, where there have been no valid objections lodged.

Major applications or those which depart from the Development Plan or those where valid objections have been received are referred to the Planning Committee (Enterprise and the Environment) which meets once a month. A list of Council / Committee Meeting dates can be found in the meetings area of this site.

The Planning legislation provides that all planning applications must be determined in accordance with the development plan unless material considerations indicate otherwise.

Following a decision being taken, the applicant and objectors will receive a copy of the Decision Notice as soon as possible thereafter.
