The Scottish Government has completed its reform of the planning system in Scotland. The main changes relating to Development Management came in to force on 3rd August 2009, although a new development planning system, and pre-application consultation procedures, were introduced earlier in the year.
A series of regulations followed the publication of the Planning Etc (Scotland) Act 2006, and these collectively have enabled the delivery of an improved planning system. However, this not only involves the work of Clackmannanshire Council, but demands more effective working with Scottish Government, public agencies and the private sector to ensure that we meet government objectives of a more efficient process to enable sustainable economic growth. Improvement plans have been formulated by organisations such as Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA), Scottish Water, Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH) and Historic Scotland.
