Swimming Development
I am Dawn Sorley the Swimming Development Officer for Clackmannanshire. I work with several agencies throughout Clackmannanshire to develop and improve opportunities in swimming and other aquatic sports for people in this area. I work with the council Sports Development team, the Leisure Trust, Apex Leisure (Alloa Leisure Bowl) and the two swimming clubs in the area Alloa ASC and Dollar Phins SC. We organise;
Swimming Classes
Over 30 swimming lessons per week are on offer at Lornshill and Alva Academies for all swimming abilities including adult beginner sessions. Sessions last between 30 and 45 minutes.
Qualified coaches deliver sessions to a national syllabus and all classes are certificated. Classes are offered dependant on ability of the customer and courses last ten weeks.
Please follow the guide below when wishing to put your child on the waiting list or enrol on a course to allow us to provide the most suitable class for your child.
- Beginner (1/2 Hour Class)
For children who have no water confidence and require swimming aids.
Cost: £22 - Improver 1 (1/2 Hour Class)
For children who can swim 1 width of (10m) pool on back and tummy with no aids. Water confident.
Cost: £22 - Improver 2 (1/2 Hour Class)
For children who are able to swim 1 length of (25m) pool on back or tummy. They must be confident in deep water and be able to tread water for 60 seconds.
Cost: £22 - Developer 1 (3/4 Hour class)
For children who can swim a length confidently, have good breathing technique and reasonable stroke technique.
Cost: £22 - Developer 2 (3/4 Hour class)
For children who can perform surface and plunge dives. Swim 25m in front crawl, breaststroke, backstroke and attempt butterfly. Must have good breathing technique.
