St. Mungo's R C Primary School was opened in 1984. The design of the school is that of classrooms clustered around two open areas, one for juniors, the other for seniors.
The school will have composite classes in 2007/08.
The school is situated in Alloa South and is currently surrounded by open park land and has extensive playing fields. Pupils have access to picnic tables and benches. Work is currently being undertaken to build new housing around the school.
The school enjoys close links with two associated secondary schools - St Modan's High School, Stirling and Alloa Academy, Alloa. There is an extensive liaison programme with St Modan's High.
The current school roll is 87.
The school has implemented the use of IEPs and Staged Intervention Procedures. Personal Learning Plans are used in P1 -P7.
The school is very well resourced and resources are well maintained and easily accessible. The school has updated its science resources and matched them to science themes in P1 - P7.
Pupils in the infant department are currently involved in Clackmannanshire's synthetics phonics programme.

The school is well resourced with computers and has a wide range of software for pupils to use. A computer suite has been installed. P1/2 and P5/6 classrooms have Promethean interactive whiteboards.
Currently the school runs After School Clubs for pupils where activities to support learning and personal development are undertaken. The school has a football team coached by a member of staff.
For the past five years the school has organised ski-ing tuition for P7 pupils and has taken P7 pupils on residential outdoor education courses at approved centres.
Pupils in P6 & P7 have also taken part in orienteering competitions and have won the Central Scotland Championship several times, winning 3 years in succession including this session.
The school arranges for pupils to see a wide range of performing arts within school. These performances are funded by the school's PTA which actively supports the school and organises fund raising and social activities. School funds have also been used to fund a drama teacher.
The PTA have raised funds to provide new school playground equipment which pupils can use after school and one interactive whiteboard.
The school regularly has student teacher placements from Stirling University, Strathclyde University, Edinburgh University and Glasgow University.
The school works closely with the church and parents to develop the pupils' religious education and preparation for the Sacraments. The school also has strong links with the Community House and Elaine McDonagh takes infant assemblies every month.
The school has policy guidelines and practice notes to support the 5-14 curriculum and has been developing enterprise in school. During session 2006/07 the school won the Forth Valley Enterprise Award for its work on a school magazine.
