Clackmannan Primary School was opened in 1972 and is the only primary school in the village.

The school itself offers modern accommodation set in two distinct departments. P1 to P3 department has six classrooms housed in single storey accommodation with a large open/communal hall area. The P4 to P7 department is housed in a 3 storey building which currently has seven classrooms in use, a computer suite and a library. The school is set on a level site with good play and grass areas and has established school gardens.

Clackmannan Primary School

Clackmannan Primary School has a computer suite of 35 networked PCs which are all Internet ready. There is a self-contained "pod" of 10 networked PCs, again all Internet ready, located in the early years area. The school has undergone an extensive programme of networking. Every classroom has now been fitted with network points and upgrade electrical supply. All offices, learning support bay and library have also benefited from the same upgrade. Every child has a unique username and password which allows access to a range of resources on the school network, local intranet and world wide web.

The school is active in raising standards across the curriculum and uses a broad range of strategies and resources to ensure continued success. Well established Early Intervention programmes in language and mathematics operate successfully in P1 to P3. A mathematics programmed called Improving Primary Mathematics (IPM) is established from P1 to P7. Co-operative learning strategies and active learning opportunities are encouraged throughout the school.

An esatblished "Ethos of Achievement" policy provides practical information about involving pupils more in their own learning and setting targets for themselves. All pupils are involved in personal learning planning which shares learning experiences with parents, as well as guiding learning of individual pupils learning.

The school has an active pupil council. They are responsible for making sure the feelings of their classmates are heard. They raise funds for improvements they would like to see in school and, for example, have already helped establish a school garden, bench seating for quiet areas in the playground and playground games. Their most recent acquisition after fundraising were two aquariums for the entrance hall.  The pupil council also helps raise funds for our ongoing Helping Others project and regularly donate these funds to charity.

We have an active Eco committee made up of staff and children who are working to make the school more eco friendly and to achieve a Green Flag award. We are also very proud to be the first school in Clackmannanshire to recieve Level 2 accreditation as a Health Promoting School.

We are proud of the school ethos. We work hard to be a welcoming school which models good manners and promotes citizenship. We have a very successful positive discipline policy which provides pupils with the opportunity to help value rules. We offer rewards and awards to mark achievement in work and work ethics as well as good behaviour. All pupils have responsibilities increasing to the level where P7 pupils answer telephones, operate a buddy system and work in the library.

Clackmannan Primary School promotes hard work in a safe and happy learning environment with the hope that all pupils will be able to fulfil their true potential.
