School Enrolment
The responsibility for a child's education rests with the parent. Most parents choose to discharge this responsibility by enrolling the child in a local authority school.
Generally, children who attend school will go to their local catchment school. You can find the catchment schools (denominational and non-denominational) for your address by using our property database.
P1 Enrolment
All children who have their fifth birthday before Monday 18 August 08 are of statutory school age and must start education on Monday 18 August 2008.
Enrolment of pupils into P1 for the 2008/09 session will take place before Friday 1 February 2008. A reminder to parents will be placed in the local media and most schools, also post reminders in local shops and pre-five establishments. When enrolling your child, you should take your child's birth certificate along with you.

Placing Requests
If you would like to place your child in a school other than the one serving your home address, you should submit a Placing Request using the Placing Request Application Form.
Even if you are planning to make a placing request, please enrol your child at your catchment school, so that a school place is secured for him/her regardless of the outcome of the placing request.
Placing Requests can be accepted throughout the year, but all those for the 2008/09 session that are received before 15 March 2008 must be dealt with before 30 April 2008.
