Football Development

Football boot

Due to the popularity of Football within the Wee County Clackmannanshire Council has a designated Football Development Officer in Steven Hamilton. One of the main aims of the Development Officer is to provide opportunities for all to participate in football.

Areas of the Football Development Programme are outlined below:

McDonalds Programme

  • A 4-year partnership between the S.F.A, McDonalds and Local Authorities.
  • A P5 initiative, all schools in the Wee County receive 12 hours of coaching.
  • All schools invited to a Local McDonalds Festival.
  • 1 school nominated to represent Clackmannanshire at National Festival at Hampden Park.
  • Coach Education for Teachers.

School Festivals

  • All local schools are invited to Soccer 7’s(P6/7) and Fun 4’s(P4/5) festivals.
  • These festivals are run in 6-week blocks twice a year.
  • The emphasis is in fun and enjoyment and children are encouraged to abide by the Fair Play ethos.

Soccer Centres

  • After School Football Centres are run throughout the County for 5 to 12 year olds.
  • All football centres are staffed by S.F.A certificated coaches who will ensure everyone has a quality experience.
  • These centres provide opportunities for players to develop skills and play small-sided games in an environment where fun and development are the main objectives.

Holiday Programmes

  • Courses are held during Easter, Summer and October Holidays for both children and youths.

Youth Development Programme

  • Youth Participation Centres - Choose Sport First Programme, Bank Of Scotland Midnight Leagues
  • Development Squads – Players selected from the Forth Valley Football Development Association.
  • Regional Squads – Players selected from Clacks, Falkirk and Stirling Development Squads.

Young Wasps

  • Youth players come along to develop different skills and tricks.
  • Be apart of the young 'WASPS' supporters club.
  • Play at the Recreation Park, home of Alloa Athlethic Football Club.
