Litter in Clackmannanshire
Litter, fly-tipping, graffiti and dog fouling are for many people the big environmental issues that affect their quality of life.
Clackmananshire Council has a statutory duty under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 to 'keep publicly managed areas clear of litter and refuse so far as practicable'.
The approach involves :
- Cleaning our communities, with each area having their own cleaning schedule to ensure cleanliness standards are maintained.
- Monitoring litter trends using the Local Environmental Audit Management System (L.E.A.M.S). This is used to target resources, and to identify emerging problems.
- Advising on litter related issues and other aspects of anti-social behaviour. A number of council departments including the community wardens and waste services are involved.
