Borrowing from the Library Service

What is the library loan period?

There are several different loan periods depending upon what item you borrow from the library –

How many library items can I borrow?

How many times can I renew an item borrowed from the library?

You can renew an item as many times as is required, unless the item has been reserved by another user. On these occasions, the item must be returned to the library as soon as your period of loan is complete. On every second renewal, the item must also be renewed in person at the library. This is to ensure that the item is being looked after appropriately.

Can I renew my books by telephone?

Yes. On every second renewal, the books or any other borrowed item should be renewed in person at the library. This is to ensure that the item is being looked after appropriately.

Can I renew my books online/email?

This service is not available at the moment. Our libraries may take queries by email, but they cannot offer any of the other standard library service.

What happens if I do not return library items I have borrowed by the return date?

Fines are imposed on any item that is returned late to any of the libraries. The libraries will charge up to a maximum of 50p per item for a child user and 70p per item for an adult user.
