Dumyat New Home for C & G Gas

Friday 15th November 2002

A central location with easy access to Scotland's major motorway network are just two of the reasons why C & G Gas picked Dumyat Business Park as a base for its new venture.

The company - involved in research and development for the Gas industry - are the third business to put down roots at Dumyat and will bring seven new jobs to the area.

Council Leader Keith Brown said: "Businesses are now seeing the major benefits of setting up in Clackmannanshire. High quality business accommodation, a central location and competitive rates combined with a spectacular scenery make the Wee County a perfect base for business.

"There is a real drive on to improve the local economy in terms of job creation, training opportunities and attracting inward investment. We are already seeing positive results with the lowest unemployment levels of 6.5% since 1996. We need to keep up the momentum and put the Wee County back on its feet, where it belongs."

The 25 acre Dumyat Business Park is being developed by Central Scotland Business Parks Ltd (CSBP), a unique partnership between Clackmannanshire Council, Stirling Council and Teesland Group Plc. The park provides a fully serviced and landscaped environment, offering flexible plot sizes to accommodate company's needs and can provide up to 300,000sq ft (20,000 sq m) of high quality industrial accommodation.

Mandy Somerville of Teesland added: "We are delighted to have secured a tenant of this quality to provide total occupancy of the second phase at Dumyat. The Park has already attracted high calibre tenants such as Scotcol Processing Ltd and Daniel Europe Ltd. Dumyat's success is highlighted by our plans to develop a further phase, which will in turn create job opportunities and encourage inward investment to the region."

Companies seeking to locate to the area may benefit from Clackmannanshire's status as an Intermediate Grant Assisted Area for Regional Selective Assistance. This provides companies with grant assistance towards the capital costs of their investment.

Stuart Callan, Director of C & G Gas said, "With Scotland's major motorway network converging nearby, customers tell us that they find the access to the Business Park very central and easy. The peaceful rural setting, together with the excellent support services of Clackmannanshire Council and Central Scotland Business Parks, has made Dumyat the ideal location for our new venture."

The Dumyat project has benefited from funding from Scottish Enterprise Forth Valley and from the European Regional Development Fund under Objective 2.

Now that the first two phases at Dumyat Business Park - a total 49,420 sq ft - are fully tenanted, plans are underway to start on Phase three which will provide a further 24,000 sq. ft of high quality industrial space.
