Funding from Europe

Over recent decades, Scotland has received billions of pounds of European funding, some of which has come directly to Clackmannanshire. This funding has supported a range of projects both past and present.
Current Programmes
The current European programmes for Lowlands and Uplands Scotland cover the period 2007 - 2013. The total funding allocated for these programmes over the next 6 years is approximately half the funding available in the previous 2000 - 2006 period.
The two Lowlands and Uplands Scotland Programmes for 2007 - 2013 are:
- European Regional Development Fund (ERDF)
- European Social Fund (ESF)
European Regional Development Fund (ERDF)
The ERDF is a vehicle for promoting the economic development and regeneration of defined areas within Member States of the European Union.
European Social Fund (ESF)
The ESF aims to address social inequalities within and across regions by improving the general performance of the labour market, in particular relation to marginalised groups.
Past projects
Top quality projects throughout Clackmannanshire have benefited from additional funding support from Europe, assisting a range of economic development initiatives. These include:
High-spec business accommodation at Dumyat Park, Pavilion and Alloa West
This business accommodation was developed by the Council in partnership with the private sector and was financed in part from the European Regional Development Programme (ERDF) through the Eastern Scotland Objective 2 Programme 2000 - 2006.
Training initiatives
Including the successful New Approaches project in Alloa and the Alloa South & East Intermediate Labour project, these initiatives received funding from the European Social Fund (ESF) through the Lowland Scotland Objective 3 Programme 2000 - 2006.
Applications
Applications for ERDF and ESF support must be led by organisations in the public and voluntary sectors.
