Peak Group
The Peak Group is a project run by our Community Learning and Development Service in partnership with LADA Link (see our Substance Misuse web page).
The group works with young people aged between 16 and 21 who have a history of offending and substance misuse and supports them in an effort to reduce offending behaviour and improve their life skills and life chances
The project has been made possible due to funding from Clackmannanshire Alliance's Community Safety Partnership and the Fairer Scotland Fund.
Maintenance work at Bulgarian orphanage
Members of the group who are currently unemployed are preparing to travel to Bulgaria where they will improve life for residents of an orphanage.
The trip which is planned to take place in May 2010, is being funded by the Bhagavat Educational Trust, who are linked to The Prince's Trust. Their fortnight in the Bulgarian orphanage will be spent carrying out maintenance, repairs and decorating to improve the life of the residents, who are young adults with learning disabilities.
Fundraising
Members will have to pay for materials for the project and need to raise up to £5000. Fundraising ideas include
- Sponsored cycle
- December 2009 - raised approximately £1,000
- Sponsored walk along the West Highland Way
- Race night
- Bingo tea
If you would like to sponsor an individual or donate to the group, please contact us using the details below.
Work experience
As well as fundraising, the members of the group are keen to gain work experience before going on their once in a lifetime journey. This will allow individual group members gain transferrable skills which will be used while undertaking their project in the orphanage.
Through work experience with local businesses group members want to gain skills in areas such as
- landscaping,
- gardening,
- painting and decorating,
- basic joinery.
