Imagine Alloa
Imagine Alloa was a project supported by

Project aim
The Imagine Alloa project, which saw Clackmannanshire Council, Alloa Town Centre BID and Clackmannanshire Alliance successfully apply for £2 million of government funding, aimed to put the town on the map with new pavements, shop fronts, signage, lighting and art work.
Following completion of the project, research by independent firm Ipsos MORI has shown that people rate Alloa as a better place to visit thanks to Imagine Alloa.
The results show that most people now think that Alloa town centre has improved over the last year. Over half of people asked after the project said they thought the town centre had got better in the previous 12 months, compared to fewer than one in four when they were asked before the project began.
Aspects of the project included:
- Public art by Rob Mulholland entitled The Sentinels in Alloa High Street and Greenside Street.
- Involvement from various international artists on a variety of projects:
- Bill Brown: Involvement in ceramic designs on Primrose Street and King Street
- Sandor Dobany: Involvement in ceramic designs on Primrose Street and King Street
- Alec Galloway: Glass work on building in Drysdale Street
- Alasdair Gray: Design of stained glass piece displayed in Alloa Library
- Siobhan Healy: Stained glass piece displayed in Alloa Library
- Keiko Mukaide: Designed shop numbers for Primrose Street
- The Make Room which utilised vacant shop premises on Drysdale Street and provided a wide variety of art and craft workshops to the public and local groups for the duration of the project. These workshops were co-ordinated by the project's Artist in Residence, Angela Beardsley.
- Street and shop front regeneration, predominantly Primrose Street, the High Street, Drysdale Street and the bus station area.
- Academic Link Programme involving students from 8 art institutions. The students worked on various creative ideas relating to town centre regeneration as part of their studies.
