Junior Challenge Award
The Junior Challenge Award is available to all young people aged between 9 - 13 years living in Clackmannanshire.
The award is non-competitive and is concerned with personal challenge and development rather than a contest against others.
The award is progressive and permits young people to become involved with new opportunities that allows for development of learning and the discovery of unknown potential.
Levels
There are three levels in the award which require a number of sections to be completed:
Level One
- 9 - 10 years
- 4 out of 7 sections (excluding Expedition)
Level Two
- 11 - 12 years
- 5 out of 7 sections (including Expedition)
Level Three
- 12 - 13 years
- 6 out of 7 sections (including Expedition)
Sections
There are 7 sections to the award:
- Health
- Skill
- Service
- Physical
- Safety
- Environment
- Expedition
Participants will be asked to complete each level before moving onto the next level.

Aims and Objectives
- Recognises young people's achievements through activities and projects within youth clubs, community and the school.
- Encourages young people to be more involved in developing their own programmes based on their interests.
- Promotes participation of young people in the decision making process as part of their empowerment.
- Encourages young people to take ownership of their learning.
- Motivates young people by giving them a sense of achievement and recognition.
